Yoga Teacher Essentials: Everything I Actually Use (and Love)

So, you’re a yoga teacher wondering how to make teaching feel supportive, creative, sustainable and a little bit magical? I'm here to share my faves. Whether you’re livestreaming from your living room, teaching in a studio, or leading dreamy outdoor flows, here’s a peek into my actual yoga teacher toolkit. These are the things I truly use and love.

Before we dive in: I may receive a small commission if you purchase through some of the links below, but trust me when I say I use every single one of these in my real teaching life; no brand asked me to do this!

1. My Physical Studio Software: Momence

Let’s start with software. I host my physical studio + gym on Momence and I’ve been super happy with it. The automations are the primary reason I switched to Momence, but it's what we use to take bookings, rent space, and connect with members. The reports are great, too. It's expensive, but it's the best software for teaching IRL that I've found so far.

2. Online Studio Software: Arketa

I host my online studio on Arketa and it's very user friendly. I've been with Arketa since ~2021; it's the software I receommend for any yoga teacher who has an online student-base or following. It integrates beautifully with Zoom, automatically uploads your classes to an On Demand library, and has all the other features you need. You can upgrade to include automations + cooler features, but I haven't done that.

3. Tech Stuff That Makes My Life Easier

I am a yoga teacher content creator and these are the tools that help create with ease:

  • iPhone (x2) — One for filming, one for behind the scenes or backup angles. IYKYK

  • Rode Wireless Go Microphone — Crisp, clean sound for livestreams and content creation. It makes a huge difference

  • Computer Microphone — For Sequencing Hub voiceovers + podcasting
  • Tripod — For stable shots and hands free filming. Mine is nothing fancy but it’s seen a lot of sun sals

  • Voice Amplifier — A must for outdoor classes with lots of students or wind

  • Sony A7iii  for ads + photoshoots! This baby is NOT CHEAP. It's the camera that my wedding photog used for my wedding (yup, the real deal). But the images and videos it's captured have made me thousands!

4. Studio Vibes

Creating a full sensory experience is my thing. Here’s what I use to elevate the space!

  • Dual Paired Speaker — For in studio vibes that hit just right. Good audio is non negotiable and we use one of the speakers in the front and one in the back for full surround sound

  • White Noise Machine — Because the studio shares a wall with our gym and sometimes all we need is a lil white noice for a deeper savasana
  • Towel Warmer — Heated towels for savasana? Say less

  • Towel Cooler — Chilled towels for savasana? We gotchu

  • Galaxy Light — This turns the whole studio into a starry sky and honestly people love it

  • Infrared Heater — This takes our heated classes to the next level. It’s a cozy, safe heat that makes the space feel like a hug. I loved it so much that I got one for my house!

  • Robot Vacuum This has literally changed the game when it comes to studio cleanliness (hi, saucha!). This is another thing I loved so much that I bought for my home! It vacuums and mops and it's self cleaning. I've tried others in the past but this is the best.

5. Practice Staples I Keep Reaching For

  • The lululemon 5mm Mat — I’ve been sent many mats over the years but this one I actually bought it myself and outfitted my entire studio with. I love it for warm classes. The grip is good.

  • Grippy Socks — I loooove practicing in socks (as seen on IG lol). These are my fave. There are probably better ones out there, but I don't have complaints here

6. My Most Complimented Item (By Far)

The CRZ Yoga Wide Leg Pant. Every time I wear them, someone asks where they’re from. They're a lululemon dupe (align wide leg pants, which I also have, but these are the exact same ones). Comfy, flowy, and very much part of my yoga teacher core wardrobe. Ten out of ten would recommend. I'm actually wearing them rn!

7. For Sequencing Support

You already know — the Sequencing Hub. One done for you, creative sequence every week. Whether you’re feeling uninspired or just need something fresh to build off of, the Hub is the ultimate supportive sidekick for class planning

So there you have it! That’s my current list of essentials. Not a “must have” list, but a “these make my teaching life better and more sustainable” list. Whether you're just getting started or years deep into your yoga journey, I hope this gave you some ideas to spark your own dream setup!

If you try any of these or have your own ride-or-die essentials, I wanna hear. DM or tag me on IG @breathe_strength. I love seeing what makes your teaching shine!!!
